Our embroidered patches are often crafted to spark thought and reflection, using familiar symbols to explore deeper concepts. This collection of animal designs is particularly rich with layers of meaning. Here, our lead designer shares the inspiration and significance behind these captivating 4-inch patches.

What was your inspiration for these designs?

"My inspiration for this trio of embroidered patches really sprang from observing human nature and societal dynamics, using animal archetypes as powerful metaphors. The direct contrast between the intense wolf and the gentle sheep was a primary driver, exploring themes of individuality versus conformity, and inherent nature versus perceived innocence. The wolf, with its glowing eyes, represents raw instinct and piercing insight, while the sheep embodies a more collective, perhaps even naive, nature. The 'snake in the doctor's coat' patch was inspired by a critical look at authority and the idea that outward appearances can be deceiving. It's about questioning what's presented to us, and the hidden agendas that might lurk beneath a veneer of trust. Each 4-inch patch in this series aims to be a visually striking commentary on human traits, societal roles, and the importance of discernment."

What do these patches mean?

"Each of these quality patches carries a distinct symbolic meaning, inviting viewers to ponder different aspects of identity and perception:

  • The Wolf Patch: This design, with its fierce gaze and striking colors, represents raw instinct, wildness, and unbridled individuality. It symbolizes inner strength, leadership, and the courage to stand apart from the pack. The glowing eyes hint at intuition and a piercing vision that sees beyond superficiality. It’s for those who embrace their wild side and trust their gut instincts.

  • The Sheep Patch: In stark contrast to the wolf, the sheep symbolizes innocence, gentleness, and often, conformity. It can represent following the crowd, being easily led, or simply embodying a peaceful, unassuming nature. This embroidered patch invites reflection on vulnerability and the balance between fitting in and forging one's own path. It can also be seen as a reminder of purity or humility.

  • The Snake in the Doctor's Coat Patch: This highly symbolic embroidered patch delves into themes of deception and hidden dangers within trusted systems. The snake, an ancient symbol of wisdom, healing, but also temptation and betrayal, wearing a doctor's coat, questions the authenticity of authority. It can mean skepticism towards perceived experts, a warning against charlatans, or the subtle presence of malice within seemingly benign structures. It's a provocative design for those who encourage critical thinking and look beneath the surface.

Collectively, these embroidered patches encourage a deeper look at identity, societal roles, and the various masks people or systems might wear. They prompt a dialogue about instincts versus conformity, and the constant need for discernment in a complex world."
